Welcome to the world of PURRSNCURLS Selkirk Rex. We breed a unique, interesting cat with a curly coat. Selkirk Rex are often referred to as “The Cat In Sheep’s Clothing”. Selkirk Rex Cats are a naturally curly cat with a loving, people oriented, calm, and sometimes comical temperament.
PURRSNCURLS Cattery is a small cattery where our cats are first and foremost our beloved house pets. Our breeding program is dedicated to the development and future of this curly coated cat. Our aim is to produce Selkirk Rex of the highest quality, that exhibit consistently correct conformation, to meet the Selkirk Rex Breed Standard, as well as retaining their wonderful temperament. We breed only to produce kittens for ourselves to show, although we occasionally have kittens available for pets that do not meet our standards for improving the breed.
Selkirk Rex are the result of a naturally occurring mutation that resulted in a dominant gene which produces curly coated cats. Selkirk Rex can be either long haired, with long ringlets of hair, or short haired, with a plush short curly coat. Because of the nature of the gene which produces the curly coats, there may also be some straight haired kittens born in each litter, which, while not having curly coats, have the same wonderful temperament as their curly coated siblings.
All the Kings and Queens of Purrsncurls Cattery are DNA tested for color, blood type, and genetic disease markers/genes.
