Policies

Although we only breed for future show cats, we occasionally have kittens or cats available for other breeders, for show, or for pets that just don’t meet our criteria for keeping them as show prospects, and we obviously can’t keep them all. When we do have kittens available, the following are our policies for obtaining kittens from Purrsncurls Cattery.

Age
Kittens are individually assessed for adoption readiness. Kittens are usually ready to go to their new homes between 12-16 weeks of age. Kittens will have received their first set of vaccinations, one de-worming and a vet exam. “How Young is To Young?”, an article on why a kitten should be at least 12 weeks old before going to a new home gives compelling reasons for this decision. Each kitten also leaves us with some going-home gifts containing their current kitten food, health records, some favorite toys and some of their kitten photos.

Pricing
Because the Selkirk Rex coat modifying gene is dominant, we get straight coated kittens in the same litter with the more desirable curly kittens. These straight coated pets feel LIKE SILK and have the same wonderful personality as their curly coated siblings but they are priced lower than the curly ones. Kittens are priced on an individual basis.

Deposit/Payments/Refunds
A non-refundable deposit of one third the purchase price of the cat/kitten will hold your choice until he or she is old enough to leave the cattery. No kitten is reserved until the deposit is received. If for any reason you cannot take delivery of the kitten, your deposit can be transferred to another kitten. In the unfortunate event that a kitten is found to have a birth defect or genetic disorder before delivery or shipping the deposit will be refunded or transferred to another kitten. Spaying & Neutering Policy
All of our pet kittens are sold with a Spay/Neuter agreement. The registration papers for pet kittens will be withheld until Veterinary proof is provided that the cat/kitten has been spayed or neutered, at which time the registration papers will be provided to the new owners.

Cats or Kittens sold to be show cats only will receive their registration papers marked “NOT FOR BREEDING” and these cats or kittens will be expected to be spayed or neutered.

Health Guarantee
We guarantee the health of our cats/kittens as provided in the contract.

Shipping
We would love for you to visit us and meet the parents of your new kitten. If you are unable to visit us and pick up your kitten we will gladly ship to the airport most convenient to you, at your cost. Shipping costs are available upon request and we have no control over these costs or over the airline rules as to when a cat/kitten can and/or can’t be shipped due to weather or other conditions. Payment in full is due prior to shipping.

Payment Options
1. Deposits: NO PERSONAL CHECKS! PayPal (preferred & SO EASY to use)/Cashier checks/Money orders
2. Final Payment: To be paid by any of the options above if the kitten is being shipped. If the kitten is being picked up, CASH is the ONLY form that will be accepted.

Adjustment

Each kitten/cat will differ in the time needed to bond with his/her new family. Please give the kitten ample time to adjust, especially if the kitten/cat has been shipped. A period of two to four weeks should be the very least amount of time allowed the kitten/cat for an adjustment period and longer if this is an adult cat and/or there are children and/or other pets in the household. Please give your new friend and family member a chance to bond with you and his/her new surroundings. Your new kitten/cat needs to feel safe and secure for his/her unique individual personality to surface.
